Description

got to draw him at last and good thing I have, now to anyone that doesn't know. I'm not very liking of how Hima draws Moldova or how people make him in fanart, for me he is waaay too young and I just feel he would be a lot more older then Hima has made him to be. He's a country! he should atleast be quite older then that but anyway, I don't have much knowledge of Moldova myself so if anyone is willing to talk about headcanons then I'll be glad to listen!

thought so far I think I got this one;

Human name: Stefan Botgros
Human Age: 23-24 years old (I headcanon that Romania is 25 to 27 years old.)
Gender: male

- Moldova is not as cute and adorable as he is now, he is a lot more mature, stern and defiantly not much for slacking off. He can be seen as blunt and aloof when first met but overtime he can be quite friendly.

- Despite the change that has happen to Moldova, nothing has really change the relations between him and Romania. He cares very much for his big brother and tends to spend a lot of time with him. Thought it appears Romania does want the 2 to be united again but Moldova just prefers to deal with Romania as a independent country then as a part of which he intends to avoid the subject. (thanks to iguana-i and LadyTores for the help with Romania and Moldova's relations.)

- Moldova can speak pretty well and fluent Romanian quite well but at times he does try to speak Moldavian to himself as much as he can, he can also speak Russian due to his time during the Soviet Union.

- Moldova's main attraction with he (and Romania) is pretty proud of is a arc that was dedicated to liberation from Russia which the say nation tends to get wary.

- Being part of the Soviet Union for quite a long time, some of Russia's customs have influence with Moldova such as him being able to drink quite a bit for quite a young age.

- When it comes to the government and Politics. Mostly EU and Russia are the main 2 topics that appear which Moldova is starting to prefer the EU and has had thoughts of joining.

- He forms a group with Ukraine, Georgia and Azerbaijan known as 'GUAM' and appears to be friendly with the other members, mostly quite good friends and neightbors of Ukraine since Ukraine has been helping Moldova with it's money troubles.

- When bringing Transnistria issue up he tends to ignore the other, not really appearing to start recongizing him or feeling he is 'immature' so he tends to avoid the subject of Transnistria.

- being the poorest country in Europe, he tends to worry about money frequently and will often try to buy cheap food, wine, clothes, ect. Also with this a joke has also been made that the last one to leave Moldova has to turn off the lights.

- speaking of wine, he seriously loves wine and enjoys much of it.

- Moldova says 'mey' instead of 'hey' when saying hello to someone.

Their national dish is mamaliga which is a porridge mode out of yellow maize flour.

- Moldova has some pretty bad roads that isn't good for driving which tends to become a joke to him and discussions.

- Moldova seriously loves parties and celebration which he doesn't mind to help plan one or help in anyway.

- When ask about his culture, Moldova tends to say 'well, it use to be much better then it already is.' which he can't help but feel some nostalgic.

Moldova is quite war in temperature sense.

- Moldova tends to joke a lot of the misfortunes he has and tends to laugh at himself to make himself feel much better, not wanting to get bother too much about it.

- Moldova's weddings are quite funny and the competition can appear pretty funny and entertaining at best.

this will be it but if you have anymore headcanons about current!Moldova or have more knowledge, do tell me! I would love some help! <3

I am planning on writing a story with Moldova, so I am currently investigating the background of this country. So, guess, I can say a word or two.
Even though Moldova and Romania are closest countries, their relationship is not as sweet. Well, if you ask Romania, then he will say that they lived happily together until Russia came and forcefully took Moldova. But if you ask Moldova, than he would call the times they lived together an occupation and it wasn`t pleasant. The reason for that is because Romania believes that moldavians as people and moldavian as language should not exist. They were created by Russians. Obviously Moldova doesn`t really like to hear that. Also people are quite afraid of the fact that Romania wants to get united once again. They prefer to deal with Romania as an independent country and not part of it. Also, Moldova has romanian as romanian as an official language, not moldavian. Even though those two are very similar, people feel that their history is being rewritten. Also, I was really shocked to find out that many moldavians believe that their main attraction is an arc dedicated to the liberation from Romania by Russia. Also, many people seems to believe that Moldova had a very nice life during Soviet times. Though some say that Moldova should have stayed within Soviet block, but as an independent country.
Of course, things between Russia and Moldova are not that happy. Moldova is stuck between Russian Customs Union and European Union. The politicians and part of the population are in favour of the second one, that makes Russia rather nervous. However, a lot of people also believe that Moldova should enter Customs Union since 20% of Moldova`s income literally comes from Russia (from moldavians  who work there and sent money back home).
If I remember correctly, on the recent elections in Moldova, the 1st and 3rd parties with biggest votes were pro-Russian, so to say, the smallest got the party that wanted to unite with Romania and the last to were pro-EU. However, the party that was most popular (also for good relationships with Russia) was banned from elections 3 days before they started. I don`t remember what the problem was, I thing it was about money, but some people told me they believe it was done on purpose to prevent the party from victory.
Ok, sorry for bringing Romania and Russia so often, but even moldavians say that their country`s politics does not exist outside these two. And that`s sad.
To the nicer things.
Moldavians say "mey" instead of "hey". Their national dish is mamaliga which is a porridge mode out of yellow maize flour. Moldova has very bad roads (not that he is unique in that) and that often becomes a topic for a long discussion along with jokes about politicians. On the good side, people there are very friendly and like to have parties and celebrations. They love their country, though a lot think that "it used to be better once". Moldova is quite war in temperature sense and, probably, its main fruit to grow is grape. (BTW, Moldova used to be the 3rd biggest food producer in Soviet Union with Russia being the 1st and Ukraine the 2nd).
Unfortunately, due to the economical situation in the country, a lot of people have to leave elsewhere and it also became a joke. Whoever is the last to leave Moldova, turn off the lights.
And just so I don`t finish my comment on the sad note, Moldova has very funny weddings. It is a mixture of moldavian folk traditions and Soviet ones. For example, stupid competitions. Yeah, they are the best.
Thank you for reading all of this. Sorry for any mistakes in this comment. English is not my mother language.
