Ireland and Barbados [Birthday Gift]

Description

a bit of a birthday gift for Kimanda who's birthday seems to be coming up quite soon and I decided to draw Ireland with one of my OCs and of course Barbados was a choice!

Now I can't help but see Ireland having a bit of a hard time there considering Ireland probably gets a pretty bad sunburn or being wary of the location but I'm sure Barbados will bring him to a pub that has shade to chat or play a good round of dominos which is really popular in Barbados! :XD:

Now I was curious if Barbados and Ireland (or Scotland and Wales.) have relations which surprise they do! thought the history with them is pretty dark.

Ireland and Barbados
'Irish immigration to Barbados dates back to the seventeenth century, when Irish people began arriving on the island as slaves and indentured servants of the British planters. Many Irish rebels, Catholics and "stubborn" landowners and tenants were sold as slaves in the English colonies in the Caribbean, Bermuda, and North America. The number of Irish slaves in Barbados is unknown but the figure is estimated at between 12,000 and 60,000 people. Today there only about 400 Red Legs, descendents of the Irish slaves (along, in lesser measure, with descendants of other white slaves), in Barbados. While, many black of other white Barbadians have some Red Leg ancestor.'
Irish Immigration to Barbados

many Irish Slaves were sent to Barbados during that time and it was even called 'Hell or Barbados' which meant it was a place worse then death and it was very bad for them to live there.

Today, there's about 400 Irish living in Barbados and much of them are poor most being called ' Red Legs ' which the term is mostly use in Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and many other Caribbean Islands, a lot of them feel discriminative and very sad for being taken from there home.

Now yes, I'm aware that there history with Barbados and Ireland wasn't very pleasant due to how Barbados had accepted England with open arms and Ireland probably fear Barbados due to how Irish were treated, which I feel England's brothers wouldn't hold much against much of England's colonies (more often England would be blame.) but I do see Ireland, Scotland an Wales defiantly interacting with a lot of Commonwealth.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH omg omg thank you so much Poison!!!! QAQ I got so excited when I first saw this, I cannot even fully express how happy I am! ;w; Ah gosh poor Ireland, it would be literally hell for him to visit Barbados on a sunny day. He would get sunburns constantly, I can confirm from my own experience that most Irish people do not deal well with the sun. :XD: I see my skin turn into lobster red when I visit places like Croatia and Turkey, I need the strongest type of sunscreen or else I become grilled. So yeah, Ireland would definitely be hiding in the shades of trees and buildings and complaining about how people can stand the sun when it's hitting so hard.
Thank you so much for making this, I had read up on the Irish in Barbados but I had almost forgotten about it. ovo I feel sorry for Ireland during this period, so many Irish were sent away from their home country and forced into slavery. I doubt it was easy for Ireland to watch his people being sent away and never returning home.

I'm not sure Ireland would fear Barbados though, he might bear him some resentment if he feels Barbados was part of the poor treatment his people suffered through when they were working for the English planters. But he got over his resentment towards America for how he acted towards the Irish people, so I'd be surprised if he would hold anything against Barbados today. Though you know what they say about Irish amnesia, forget everything but the grudges. :XD: Naaah, I could see Ireland and Barbados getting along alright now... though Ireland may try to get Barbados to come to his place more often so that Ireland doesn't have to turn into a vampire and hide in the shades! Once again, thank you so much for drawing my Ireland!! :D I absolutely love it, Ireland looks adorable despite the sunburn and Barbados looks quite happy as well. :aww: Thank you so much Poison, I seriously appreciate it!!
